Hi,
Been trying to get the VGA port (not hdmi) on my A321 to go above 800x600 resolution but to no avail.
I've tried 3 different computers (1 pc and 2 laptops) and 800x600 is the best i've got, any other setting gives an 'UNSUPPORTED' error.
Using powerstrip I managed to bodge the PC to display a higher res by manually inputting a lot of settings but surely this isnt the way its ment to work.
I've updated video drivers on all computers but still nothing.
I have read on other forums that you should just be able to go into display properties and select 1366x768 and nothing else needs to be done.
Does it sound like ive got a faulty unit and if so who do I need to contact to get it resolved?

what graphics adaptor are you using. Its a two part setup really. Your display may be able to show a resolution of 1366x768 but your display adaptor also needs to be able to display this resolution. This is a widescreen resolution and some adaptors do not support widescreen resolutions
Most onboard VGA adaptors cannot, without certain drivers and BIOS updates. Normally Nvidia and ATI graphics adaptors don't normally have an issue. What are you using??

I've tried an Nvidia FX5200, an onboard intell 915m chipset (apparently someone elses works ok) and also an onboard geforce 5200 go - not sure if that ones any good though.
Ive updated the drivers on both the intel and the 5200

Just got the DDC info from the intel software:
Display type : Digital
Serial Number : HIQ501c
DDC2 Protocol : Supported
Gamma : 2.40
Maximum image size
Horizontal : 35.0inches
Vertical : 19.0inches
Supported modes
640 by 480 (60Hz)
1280 by 720 (50Hz)
1920 by 530 (50Hz)
-----------------------
That would make sense as its actually 640x480 that im displaying, not 800x600. Does this ddc info look correct?

Heres a few comments I have found from another forum, this DDC / EDID fault seems to be quite common..

wow this thread is huge now!
after posting some time ago about getting a model with dead pixels and sending it back i received the DVI version from ebuyer.
the last few days i have been attempting to hook it up to the mac mini and if truth be known i forgot about this thread! i thought i was the only one who had issues, but i am getting the incorrect EEID issues, so no VGA or DVI for me
What are the current options availible to me now as a return is out of the question of course (been a few months)
is it looking at a return? if so how do i go about sorting this out, documentation and things needed? im a little confused as to what to do so if someone could point me right that would be great thanks

Edit: Oh yeah i have the a321

A post about how to there fault was fixed:
Send it back to Repairtech for the DVI/VGA update (I assume you have the DVI model) and then it will accept 1360 x 768 by default with a DVI or DDC compliant VGA cable. I have had this done to my A321 and I must say the picture quality is really fiirst class @1360 x 768 from a PC with either DVI or VGA cable

A few more replies...

Yes, 1360*768 @ 60Hz is the maximum value on the slider when the A321 is connected - I believe 60Hz is the refresh rate for VGA connections.
Unfortunately Firmware has nothing to do some aspects of PC connectivity - my firmware was never updated, just the DDC information flashed at repairtech.

I've had my A321 HDMI version (from Novatech) for a month. Very happy with my purchase.
Currenty have my PC and 360 connected to the VGA port via a VGA switch. When the tv was first connected to the PC, I went into display properties and moved the slider to 1360x768. The remote control info button reports that the tv is receiving 1360x768@60hz. Picture is crystal clear. My graphics card is a Radeon 9800pro, and the ATI Catalyst Control panel recognises the TV as "A321WD D-sub".
If you see the last post it says that the TV is picked up as the 'A321WD D-SUB' mine gets picked up as a HIQ501c. Its definately got to be a dodgy DDC
