What do you think of the minimum post length on this forum?

Never been an issue for me. It's clearly there to stop people posting 'yes' or 'no' to questions without backing them up with some kind of argument or logic.
'Should I buy a 4870'
'Yes'
What kind of useful forum would this be if people could do that ? Enable it and I can tell you now it will happen.
Have a look at this thread:

Answer with no arguments for or against the suggestion, and someone complaining about the minimum post length. I really do believe that if you are going to stick you neck above the parapet and offer some advice that you should do so with some supporting argument, rather than an 8 character statement of your opinion.
meh, doesn't bother me none.

Many a succinct response is littered with mindless spam and multiple smilies to meet the minimum criterea, i think 10 characters is too long.

I tend to see quite a few that have smilies taking up space in them, therefore the limit needs to be shortened to say 5 words. This still doenst stop spam though as we found out on there forums about 30 minutes ago when the spambot paid a visit :D
Sometimes there is no need for a long winded answer though in all fairness.

But why is it essential? What difference would it make if it wasnt there

I don't think its fair to accuse me of spamming or generally giving 1 word answers with no evidence or explanation to back them up. Nvertheless there are plenty of circumstance where i have felt it appropriate to give a response of <10 characters and in that instance i find it pretty annoying.
I'm not moaning, I just i noticed somebody else shared my opinion and i thought it would be interesting to gauge opinion on the matter, since if the majority did agree it would be a trivial change.

It's there by default I think so why change it. One word posts/replies are messages you'd say in an IM conversation :)
Perhaps NV could bring in a chatbox to suit your needs ;)
