I've just bought an new Barebones system from Novatech :-

http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/spec ... ?BB-C2D6PB (http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?BB-C2D6PB)

It's not even arrived and I'm already making plans to updgrade it

I want to put some more memory into it and was wondering if there would be any drop in performance if I were to mix (2 x 512Mb DDR2 667) + (2 x 1024Mb DDR2 667) DIMM's to take it up to 3Gb? Or would it be safer/faster just to buy another (2 x 512Mb DDR2 667) and settle for 2Gb?

I would go for the 2X 1024mb's
but that is my personal opinion.
It should work fine, and if there is conflict then sell the 2 X512's and still have 2GB,and a little pocket money :P

Cool, Thanks for the quick reply. I think I'll prob go for 2x1024, finances allowing! 2Gb is more than enough for anything on Windows XP but I'm away to try Vista RC1 so I've got a feeling 2Gb might not seem like quite so much when running it! Beta 2 sucked up memory like it was going out of fashion but hopefully RC1 will be slightly more easy going :)

2GB should be fine for running vistaRC1, but i dont know why vista takes up so much memory,i might just buy the bare one, because the one with the aero effects is really expensive
