Hi, Please can you help me, I have very little knowledge of anything to do with hardware for computers and I want to connect my daughters computer to mine (without any wires trailing about) for the internet.
I haven't got any idea what is needed to do this so I was hoping you could tell me.
My computer has Windows 2000 Professional on and my daughters has Windows XP, will this be a problem too.
Thanks
Dazowe

Hello
To connect the two PC's wirelessly to the internet you would need a wireless router and a wireless adapter for each PC.

If you are unsure what components to choose the best people to speak to would be our sales department. If you call them on 0870 112 0612 they will advise the best components for your needs.
Its also worth, before you call or select your product, bearing in mind the following:
* Which internet service/phone provider you use (as this will affect which router product you need to ensure compatibility)
* The distance between the machines and any walls/obstructions (as the further they are away, the poorer the signal strength of the wireless products).
This should help us get it right first time for you.

Hi Robt,
My internet service provider and phone are with Tiscali although this is on a BT line to whom I pay my line rental.
There isn't much distance between the 2 computers, mine is in my bedroom and my daughters is in her bedroom next to mine.
Also, nobody answered my question about me having Windows 2000 and my daughter having Windows XP on her computer, will this cause any problems.
Hi Dazowe
To ensure compatibility with a BT line, you will need an ADSL product (not to be confused with DSL which cable subscribers will need).
With the distance/obstructions described, the wireless product should be a fine.
To address your query regarding Windows versions, this will cause no problem. Both will communicate using the TCP/IP network protocol, so fundamentally will be talking 'the same language'.
I hope this is of some assistance
