I'm not quite sure whether I should be posting this in the motherboard or graphics card forum; here's my problem:

I've had the Asus board for a couple of months now. At first I used a Radeon PCI-E card, and after a while I noticed some blue vertical lines dotted about the screen. This is especially noticeable when the Windows XP screensaver is activated, or you're in a command prompt box.

Thinking that the memory on the graphics card was at fault, I took it back and exchanged it for a GeForce 7300GS. However, the problem is still there.

I've run all the graphics card related tests in Microscope 2005, and this reports no problems.

I'm using a CTX PV722 LCD monitor.

Many thanks

Have you tried using another monitor
Have you tried using a different pci-e slot
Updated the drivers
Check motherboard temps (that board gets very hot)

if the problem is the same with two different cards the problem may be the motherboard. there is a chance that the problem is software related. do you see the lines on the screen out of windows when the system is booting and do you see them in safe mode?

Thanks for your replies. I'll give these options a go and will report back.

OK - I've tried all the suggestions, and the problem persists. It's not operating specific, as I get the same in Windows XP and Vista. Moving the card to the other PCIE slot made no difference, so I can only assume that the motherboard is at fault.

Wrong! It isn't the motherboard! :(

I've changed various components in my system; here's the latest spec:

Athlon X2 4200+ with stock heatsink/fan
Asus M2N32-SLI Deluxe
2GB (4 x 512MB Corsair ValueSelect DDR667 RAM (VS1GBKIT667D2)
PNY NVidia 7300GS 256MB PCI-E Graphics
Samsung SpinPoint 300GB SATAII NCQ HDD
Corsair HX620 PSU.
CTX PV-722E LCD Monitor

I am having a very strange screen problem, in that parts of it are 'corrupted' with blue streaky vertical lines running down various parts of the screen. These lines seem to 'flicker,' (as if there is a 50Hz 'hum') especially during HD activity, but they are there all the time. The problem is more noticeable in 32-bit colour, although there are traces of the problem in 16-bit colour.

I'm really at a loss to know what's causing the problem now. Has anyone else had a similar problem? Could the 590 chipset be at fault? I've got all the latest drivers.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Mark

It's more noticeable at 32-bit colour than 16-bit, but you can see the corruption at these levels. I can't say I've noticed it during (for example) Windows installation, probably because it installs at 256 colours (guessing here though!)

I've even tried the computer in my neighbour's house last night (to see if our house might have a grounding issue) but the problem still persists.

Is it worth cloning my data onto a spare SATAII drive? I have a Samsung at the moment, the spare is a Maxtor. Is it worth the effort, or am I just clutching at straws?

Does anyone know if there have been any compatibility issues reported between the M2N32-SLi/590 chipset and the Corsair DDR667 Value RAM?
