Hey guys,
I was looking at my laptop today and checked the temperatures (just playing music) with SpeedFan and I seem to be running at 60degrees! Is this normal? I find if I come out of rFactor or Half Life 2 my laptop's at 75-80 degrees!
This is a HP Pavilion dv9500 (that's rubbish!! breaks down 4 times in a year and 3 months!)
Specs:
Nivida GeForce 8600M GS
Intel Core 2 Duo T7250 @ 2GHz
2GB RAM
Windows Vista Home Premium SP1
Here's a screenie:

Thanks.

I would start with checking the fan and heat exchangers for debris and fluff

I've just checked it now for all debris and fluff and there's only a little bit that I've cleared, the GPU's at 56 but the processors are staying the same.

I was going to say what Sublios said, dont worry unless your laptop starts passing 100C
A tech informed me a few years back that an amd k7 cpu wouldnt pop until it hit 190C
the worst your notebook might do is have thresholds set too low and start slowing things down when they hit 70-80c , so if you can find the bios settings (if HP let you) then you can up the throttling levels, sometimes there is a bios update that helps you do this, however I would stress that you need to know what you are doing to start playing around with heat settings.

get a compressed air cans and blow any dust out. The best thing ive ever bought for my xps was a cooling stnad with lots of rans in it.

I brought a laptop cooler from Novatech. It is only small and has two fans in it. I have a hp pavillion as well but with this cooler it doesn't get hot at all.

Same as Crowsy here, but mine was bought of ebay and has 3 fans.
They're a bit irritating to move around but they keep laptops from heating up at all.

I use the ANTEC laptop cooler, it has nice rounded edges , has nice pads so if you have it on your lap its comfortable
two fans
about 20 quid from various places
its got all rounded edges so no scrapes very nice
mine was running hot a few weeks ago but a clean of or dirt solved my problem!

I will second them antec coolers, my laptop used to get stupid hot to the extent it was virtually burning my legs. Purchased the antec cooler a few months ago and it does the job very well.
