The difference is make, probably cheaper make and renamed, and also the clocks may just be standard and not overclocked

Like Tax says.

It can sometimes be whatever they have available at the time, novatech don't actually make them, butthey will (likely) have an agreement with the card maker/supplier to sell them as their own item.

EG
person goes in gets a 6600gt, novatech coded and bradned, recieves an MSI NX660GT card.
His mate goes in next week, orders same card, comes out with a winfast model.
Or an XpertVision one like i did.

SO you could get a diamond for pennies basically.

You pays your money you takes your chances as they say.

Or u can go into the shop and ask the sales team on which brand they have in the warehouse ;)

Also telesales if u ask them nicely.

if i ordered 1 and then l months later another, would they still work in sli despite possibly being different manufacturers?

yup, diff makes and diff speeds, but they would revert to the slower ones speed, but still, quad sli would be good enough at stock

can you not get dx10 on xp? will the dx10 cards work ok with dx9 games. i heard dx10 wont be back compatiable with dx9. that really screws me up as my new pc is to play crysis and its dx10!

Taxation

dx 9 will work on vista and almost all dx 10 games that are coming out on vista.
It would be a silly move if microsoft didnt make vista backwards compatable, the only people losing out would be microsoft.

As for the cards being backwards compatable, im pretty sure nvidia and ATI are working so they can be used on xp, otherwise they will lose money aswell.

Dirext x 10 cards should work fine on dx9 games because there are plenty of older games out there that arent dx 9 and they still work on dx9 cards

DX10 will only work on Vista and will not be backwards compatible to XP. (Although if theres a way someone will find it).

As this article (http://news.portalit.net/fullnews_DirectX-10-Is-For-Windows-Vista-Only,-Says-Microsoft_1570.html) says. If will force people that want to play the latest games to upgrade. As for the cards, I'm sure current cards will work with DX10. For the 1st couple of generations at least.

Im sure the cards will work on XP, but only in dx9 mode, and then when vista is loaded on, the card will change and work in dx 10 mode.

read this. http://news.softpedia.com/news/DirectX- ... 7762.shtml (http://news.softpedia.com/news/DirectX-10-and-so-it-ends-7762.shtml) i think its silly. i mean why cant it just be beackwards compatiable so we dont have to spend a fortune on new kit? all i wanna do is play crysis on full whack but it seems unless i pay silly ££££ i wont be able to.

for software developers

DirectX Software Development Kit
So programmers can do (guess what) program applications to run on dx 10

teknokid
22-09-2006, 07:09 AM
thats silly. you can create dx10 applications on xp, but just cant play them. thats silly :p

Because then they would not be able to charge for it.

Yeah but as things are going, no one is going to be able to upgrade to vista ultimate edition, and get all the proper hardware to run it, and when i say it, i mean games :P

which is best 256 bit memory or 512? do gx2 use 256 coz reviews say 512 but then say thats a combined of both gpu's?

Taxation
25-09-2006, 06:22 PM
The gx2 uses 512mb on each of the cards making it 1gb total per gx2

teknokid
25-09-2006, 06:31 PM
no not the mb the bit?

Taxation
25-09-2006, 07:21 PM
the bit is 256mb per section of the card

512mb 256bit
512mb 256bit
You dont add them together to make 512bit

teknokid
25-09-2006, 08:17 PM
so which is better? ive seen a gx2 with 512bit and another with 256. which should i get?

Taxation
25-09-2006, 08:19 PM
Do you really need a gx2, why not just get a 7900gtx??
But bigger in basically every case scenario is better

teknokid
25-09-2006, 08:25 PM
well... yh. i want the best! lol. ill go for the 512bit 1!

teknokid
25-09-2006, 08:39 PM
21". this pc is goin to be built to last for quite a while, so im getting the best.

Taxation
25-09-2006, 08:40 PM
fair enough, i was gonna say, a small monitor wont need such alot of power, but if its gonna be a while until your next upgrade then fair doos, spend away :P

teknokid
25-09-2006, 08:42 PM
lol. but you think the 512bit would be better!?

Taxation
25-09-2006, 10:22 PM
it would give you slightly better performance, but then again, the 512bit might be more expensive, i would go for one that would suit my budget

teknokid
26-09-2006, 06:36 AM
well i managed to find a gx2 on http://www.scan.co.uk, which was the cheapest and one of the only 512bit 1's! thanks for all the help.
