Hi there,

I've recently moved my whole system from my orignal Novatech case to a custom case.

Everthing works fine but the sound.

I used the onboard k8s-755a sound. But the difference between this case and the orignal is the front panel USB/line-in/out. the new case uses jacks as opposed to connectors to the mother board (so you plug the jacks into the back of the machine to route to the front).

the case has one odd component which is called "speaker" which plugs into four connectors but only has two wires (red and black) and it won't go over to the other side of the board (to F_AUDIO) as the wire has the IDE and power LED as well. The only place I can put it is in the "Speaker Connection" right next to the LED connections, but this doesn't seem right and doesn't work (nor do I really know which is the correct way round).

Even if I could get over to the F_AUDIO, I don't think I have enough connectors to make it work.

My theory is that I need some jumper connections - am I right in that these are the same as you get on a HDD to set it to master or slave - on the F_AUDIO so that the sound goes to the motherboard? Or is this simply a driver thing as I do have the drivers installed, but having the board out for a day meant that it reset it's self.

Cheers for any help guys!

Yes the pc speaker must connect to the speaker connector which is normally near the pins for HDD LED, Power LED etc. This speaker is simply to produce PC beeps should the board wish to make any.

The F_AUDIO needs to have certain pins shorted out if you are not connecting front panel audio via this header just as you said.

Using a jumper cap you must short together pins 5&6 and then also 9&10. This will connect the audio out pins to the board audio in pins and will allow sound on the back connectors.

Hope this helps.

Perfect mang! Just took out the jumpers in an old 512MB HD and placed them in and it works!

Just to check, of the PC Speaker, where should the red wire (+?) go? 1 or 4?

Cheers again mang!

The red wire should be linked to the +
