e5200 on a gigabyte g31-es2l, worked fine on a 3.33 ghz overlock, recently changed case, moved everything over and now i can't overclock at all.

quick search shows i need to remove the battery for 5 mins or so, as the board doesn't come with cmos jumper.

should this solve the problem or is there another method/solution?

cheers

bios upgrade solved the problem, running at 3.0ghz - 44c full load :-)

how far shall i go..

Well, it depends on how much voltage you feel ok with putting though it, and how good your chip is.
I mean, you will probs be able to reach 3.6, although, you might be putting quite a lot of voltage through it especially considering that motherboard has no cooling for the mosfets?

@ 3.00ghz volts down to 1.062 (42c full load)

looking pretty promising, full load 10 mins so far, how long should i test (orthos) for full stability?

Got mine at 3.3 with 1.1v with an Asus motherboard so you should be able to reach 3.8 with a little luck and good cooling.
Try and run it overnight.

struggling to stress test @3ghz with low volts, will try 1.1 and go from there.

1.3V on the CPU and 2.0V on the memory. Give it some welly!

But really no point going much above 3.3 GHz. Cache limits gaming more than clock.

1.1v @ 3ghz :-)

i really don't get how you have such low temps - i'm idling at 30c with 2x 120mm intake and 1x 120mm exhaust, akasa 965, accelero on the gpu and zalman northbridge heatsink - coolermaster 340 micro case.

quite happy with the hd4850 at 30c idle though :-)

might try see how much i can get out of the e5200 but i'm pretty happy running at 3ghz

Well with only 1.1v its going to be very low temps and the room maybe cool that its in.

is 30c low for this chip? despite the above cooling mods i cant break the 30c idle.. but 42c full load is pretty good.

Furthest i've pushed my e5200 so far. Unfortunately my board - g31-es2l has limited memory options (+0.1,.2,.3,.4) so i'm not entirely sure on the next step.

I want to get 3.5ghz stable do i just have the ram at .4 and let it rise with the fsb? (ram is corsair 1066mhz). in terms of volts how far should i go, i've tried 1.36v and that failed to boot, how much higher is safe? Temps are good so no worries there.
