Hi everyone,

so far I have not had the need to participate in this forum, since my Novatech (Movita Bravo750-NNB 037) notebook has worked fine for years. However I need to install more RAM and I need some detailed guidance. Since I currently live in Greece I cannot send the notebook back to Novatech. Does anyone know where the Ram slots are located and how can I reach them? I have unscrewed the bottom of the notebook and all I see are the CD-rom, floppy, motherboard and processor. I cannot reach the top of the motherboard because the keyboard is 'locked' on the plastic of the chassis and I am afraid I might brake it, if I apply too much pressure. Any ideas?

Thanks

I need to upgrade the memory on my laptop too! Did you ever discover how to do this. I have emailed Novatech support for a technical manual or instructions but have received no answer apart from the auto acknowlegement.

Support received from “Novatech Live Chat” helped me put together this detailed description.

Memory Details:
Installed RAM 1 x 256MB 32Mx64 DDR 133Mhz CL2 PC2100 200 pin SO-DIMM
Now added 1 x 256MB DDR CL2.5 PC2100 SO-DIMM
Upgrades available from ipc are 256 or 512MB
Maximum RAM is 2 x 512MB DIMMs giving a total of 1GB

Memory Slot Access:
The memory is underneath the keyboard, access it as follows. Remove the plastic bezel that runs between the top of the keyboard and the base of the screen. To do this put your fingernail or a small flat screwdriver in the slot underneath the bezel above the [Ins] key, lift gently and also push gently inwards on the retaining lug under the right-hand end of the bezel so that it unlatches and the bezel begins to come away. Work from right to left lifting the bezel away gently using the slots above the [F10], [F6] and [F2] keys.

Having removed the bezel remove the two screws, one above [F2] and the other above [Ins]. Lift the keyboard carefully from the back edge keeping the front edge down. This will reveal two SO-DIMM slots on the left side. My laptop had one free slot and one slot occupied.

Hi
Does anyone know what makes this laptop so fussy about memory and what the exact memory characteristics are that mean a module will work in it?

All the working PC2700 modules I have which are generally backward compatible in other laptops won't work in this machine (it doesn't boot)
I have also tried a couple of working PC2100 modules which it's supposed to take but they have the same result.

If I buy other PC2100 modules I need to know how to tell which ones will work.

The 256MB module originally installed has what looks like a Novatech part number on a sticker which is NBM-212532 and has 8 chips (4 each side). Googling this it appears it doesn't exist.

Thanks for any help.
