I have installed XP on this machine a number of times in the past, with the same hardware and disc with no problems. This week I tried installing it again, booting from the disc, formatting the hard drive and running the setup as usual, however, just after typing in my XP license, I get the error: [missing file:- Please insert XP Service Pack 1 CD etc etc] looking for i386.

Why is my computer suddenly not finding this directory? I have used this exact setup numerous times before, why is this time different?

When I browse for the file, I cannot even see my disc drive any more.

Ok, so I used my XP Home install CD instead and everything seemed to install ok, then I rebooted without the disc in the drive and I get the Bad or Missing Command Interpreter error message.

command.com /p /E:256

What is going ooooon? :(

***OK FIXED THIS PART - had disc drive as first boot with the Asus CD in the drive.***
