Hi
I have received a new motherboard from novatech , connected it all up with no problems at all only to find that the cpu fan runs constantly,? moved the switch cables about to see if that would cure it but to no avail, I did try this on an old board same thing happens until I restart using the switch then all is fine,. any ideas please. I do have a rteurns number but that is a lot of grief to go through if I am missing something.

maybe you have a power supply that carries on powering the fans for 2 mins after there off to cool down the case etc.....

Hi again thnks for your replies here the mobo in question http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?mbb-s7302u&P=1 I have left it running for a while but not as long as 2mins though, I had some advice on another forum pointing to the bios settings, something to do with S2 and S3 but he coudn't de any more specific than that? may try that later after some more searching to do with bios.

Hi
Just had a look it has a Bestec 250w installed, the fan spinning sits on top of the cpu so I assume it is.

The other thing that is confusing is the placement of cables for power switch. the hdd plug sits in the correct place as discribed in docs along with the power led but the power reset needs to be in the pins adjacent to the specified pins otherwise it will not start although the fan runs constant. the reset works to a point, the hdd light goes off when switch held in to reset.

So let me get this straight.
You dont have the cables on the correct pins

Well sort of... On the board there are 13 pins looking left to right the bottom line is 7 pins left bottom 2 has hdd led the power reset is supposed pins 5&6 leaving 1 free the top line has 6 pins top lefthas power led then 5&6 seems to need power reset? it will kick the hdd in if done this way.. does that make sense?
Pins block like this -

OOOOPS! sorry pins ? there 9 not 13  the old board has the same amount accept the 5 is at the top and not at the bottom.
