OK. I'm posting this using my new Titan T2. The laptop is awesome. It runs all games I've tried on highest settings (Battlefield 2 and Darkstar One)
Though I am wondering,
1) is there a way to view battery % without using the OS systray?
2) what do the 2 buttons at the very top do? Eg. 1st is power, 2nd is webbrowser, 3rd is email, 4th is ???, 5th is ???
Seeming as one has a picture of a fan, im slightly worried that I could overheat the laptop if I don't use it right; so a simple explanation of what the button actually is will help.
If you read the PDF manual on the (dark coloured) CD that came with your lappy it'll tell you that one is to turn the fan on permanently as apposed to when it's needed and the other is apparently for loading media player but nothing happened on Vista and I've not tried it with any other OS because it's back with Novatech at the moment because there was a dead (or bright - white) pixel that was really anoying me and as it was less than a week old I thought I'd send it back.

Thanks. :) I hate PDFs :P
The other seems to do nothing in Windows XP for me. I don't use media players except for watching movies anyway.
Mine has 0 dead pixels, which means it's officially my 1st LCD (not counting calculators and watches) without one :D My Nintendo DS has 4, my old laptop had one, and my TV has 1. :D
So it appears the button has no effect at all... think that's worth a call to tech support!! hehe unless it gets answered on here!

So is there any way to view the battery % without the OS? My old (266mhz  ) laptop had an FN button which viewed the %, which didn't depend on the OS at all and worked in bios, linux and windows without any drivers.
Not that I could find, sorry...
My (old but I'm using it right now!!) Gateway Solo P3 450MHz has an LDC display with a battery meter it also have Fn+F2 that gives the % as you said.
From what I remember my new Orion has an image of a battery on the F3 key but I think it also has a mute symbol on the key so I don't know... maybe FN+Ctrl+F3 or something might do it...?

The manual only says:
Checking the Battery Level
You can check the remaining battery power in the Windows
battery status indicator, which is located at the lower right-hand
corner of the task bar. (If you do not see a battery or AC-in icon
on the task tray, go to Power Options Properties box and click
on the Advanced tab. Check off ``Always show icon on the task
bar``.)
Alternatively, you can access the power meter by clicking the
Power Options icon in the Windows Control Panel.
For some reason the manual appears to only be designed for Windows users. I intend to install a Linux distro so most of the info in the manuals are absolutely useless! In fact, there is no mention of linux anywhere in the manual!
So to answer your question, I don't think there is any way to check the battery status other than through windows or linux (unless there's a dos facility that can probe the bios (I guess that's where the information comes from).
Hopefully I'll be proved wrong!

ok i just installed vista, waited ages for the ATI Drivers and they're installed, and I cannot use Aero and my performance rating is 1. I know there's something wrong... and I don't think I installed the wrong drivers, because I'm sure it said Mobility x1600

Thx for the reply.
Well mainly the games that i would like to run on the Titan T2 are Battlefield 2, Day of Defeat/Counter Strike Source, F.E.A.R, Elder Scrolls 4:Oblivion, Halo, GTA:San Andreas, Quake 4, The Sims 2, Far Cry, Command & Conquer Generals etc etc
P.S Could you tell me what your benchmark was for Battlefield 2
Greatly Appreciated

What I'm unsure about is:
DoD/CSS
FEAR
Elder scrolls
but as far as i know the others all have lower requirements than BF2 and should run fine unless they have problems with newer graphics cards
P.S Could you tell me what your benchmark was for Battlefield 2
Greatly Appreciated
I'll try when I've sorted out my problem (see my other thread) , assuming you mean what FPS I have running on HIGH?

I had to use a NO-CD to play because my DVDrom is broken and I guess needs returning to Novatech...
I dont know what the average FPS on BF2 is for most people.
The laptop was about
35-40 on high
~40-65 on high but with shadows and highlighting disabled, with no visible difference anyway
The game seemed smooth throughout and I felt no graphics lag at all.
edit--
65-70 on medium. I honestly still can't see difference from MEDIUM->HIGH though :D

I'll test once my DVD writer is fixed.
Seeming as this thread is getting pretty big, any more questions etc please email or MSN me at

Hey guys,
I'm thinking of getting the Titan T2 7200, as this Dell is getting on my nerves and is getting on a bit in age. So far I've not seen many serious issues with the Titan. Is there anything I need to know about it before I purchase? I won't be buying it right away, as I am months away from building up enough money.
Also, what's the read speed of the 160gb SATA Hard Drive in it? There is a program I use for this called HD Tach, which lets you know the speed of the Hard Drive. In the Dell it's a 40GB 5400rpm drive reading at around 36mb/s, which is pretty sluggish to today's standards. I hear the 160GB drive isn't that good (but there are so many different ones, so I may have looked at the wrong reviews...), so whether it's any good or not will be the deciding factor on whether I'll be buying this PC or not.
Thanks.
