View Full Version : Has anyone else got Homeplug/Powerline adapters?

Compared to wireless G on vista (i.e. the "60 second rescan" bug) the powerline adapter kit I got from Novatech is fantastic, but during gaming (when they get alarmingly hot and are constantly transmitting data for hours on end) I often get "connection interupted" notices and upon minimising find I've been disconnected. I have a suspicion this may be down to the whole powerline adapter setup,

Has anyone else found their connection suspiciously unreliable?

I am investing Q-check and will DL that immediately if it seems to have sufficient data logging that could aid this problem (I'd set it up on a wired and powerlined computer simultaniously and see if both connections drop out at the same time. If yes then issue is with ISP, if no then issue is with powerline)

Good troubleshooting idea. Have to admit that I do not get more than 5MB/s with my 200Mbps powerline adapters but have not experienced any disconnections. Check that your LAN port does not go to "sleep" or to a "powersaving" mode.

Admittedly my ISP has been useless recently with very poor DL rates (interestingly my UL rate is absolute rock solid steady) but still.

By 5MB/s I presume you are reffering to transferring data across the powerlines, as opposed to your DL speed?

Good though about the LAN port (I'm just triple checking: you do mean the Motherboards LAN port as opposed to the router's LAN port? Yeah you must do) Where would this mythical setting be? file path would be fantastic, but other wise I can work it out for myself. If it's in the BIOS then say bye bye as I highly doubt a) an nForce 430 and b) a DELL propriety board would have that feature :)
