Hi I have a Packard Bell desktop pc it is just over a year old and yesterday it starting sounding what I can only describe as an alrm or siren. I am just wondering what this might mean and where to start with the problem??? I can't get any sense out of Packard site. Can anyone help?? :?

Is there a way you can check temperatures for your cpu (processor)
To your knowledge, is there a case alarm that activates when the case is opened when the computer is on(i know it is a new thing, but c'mon, it's possible)

Hi thanks for response, no there is no alarm for when the case is opened, my first thoughts were heat related but didn't want to go off down the wrong road. The CPU fan seems to be working I will look to see if I can find the running temp of the cpu.

If you cant, download a prog called speedfan (currently at 4.28 or 4.29) here http://www.almico.com/speedfan429.exe

Run the prog and this will show you the temps in your system. It like that the one you will be interested in will be shown as something like Temp1 or Temp0.
Its generally the highest temp in the system.

Is it on all the time, ie from the moment you switch you PC on, or does it take a while? Its *probably* heat related - check no fans have fallen off anything, or you're playing Need For Speed Most Wanted :D

But the alarm could be for anything, I have a molex to molex alarm (somewhere!) that sounds if the device attached to it stops drawing power...
