x80r sometimes makes clicking sound

hi,
have occasional clicking sound..I presume from hd is this something to worry about....was doing it this morning but not doing it now?
Anyone else had this?
Any help would be appreciated

sounds like the hdd click of death.
as you can see from the name it is somthing to worry about as it usually means that your hard drive is about to die so i suggest you back up your data and find replacment.

I'd get in contact with the manufacturer, in the mean time as above, MAKE A BACKUP!!!

aye sounds like the hard drive is having some trouble

sometimes the clicking hard drives can work for quite some time, but eventually they start to fail
so as our friends on here have suggested, make a backup, if its covered by warranty get it replaced, if not then its not difficult to fit a replacement

p.s. make sure you have all disks needed to install windows on a fresh drive

well....I done a scan and check, fix errors etc on hd this afternoon and its gone away...I will listen out for it next few days if back I will contact nova. Guess I'd better back up stuff. thanks for help...won't be' appy bunny' if drive goes!

being mechanical hard drives can unexpectedly expire, at least you are getting some warning

if the checkdisk identified bad sectors then the drive will bypass them, but the problem could spread so yes, definitely backup! :)

thanks, been no noise since scan......very strange.
probably put laptop through paces later then see......tv's loud at minute!

man I play so many games
but mainly at the moment I am playing for the Bradford lan party
so its COD4, GRID, Generals and UT3

I also play a bunch of GTA4 because it makes me laugh

its one wicked laptop, yeah its heavy, and has fans that sound like they should be in a server, but it kicks butt:)

its also pretty much just for games, I have a samsung q210 for business which is a great diddy machine for that job :)

Still haven't managed to get into on-line gaming yet...just finished hl2.
near end of crysis.
fmo9 obviously portsmouth but Im not good, like real team at mo!

been playing rise of nations couple times against my nine year old son...well teamed up v computer!
we also tried fifa07! he is about my level!

tried out some games lent to me by friend...darwinia.....x3.....silent hunter3.

seem to try loads and not finish much!

no clicking sound since scan.....

still pleased with machine even though 8700 gpu.
