Hi Folks.
I've been looking to update my PC with a Blu-Ray drive, this one (http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?SON-X10S) infact.
I have my PC hooked up to a 47" High Definition Television 1080p, if i purchased this Blu-Ray drive would i get the same results as a stand-alone Blu-Ray player, e.g Sony PlayStation 3 quality etc.
My PC is connected to the TV set via HDMI from a Sapphire ATI Radeon 4870 1024MB Graphics Card.

It's software dependant but if you are asking can you get 1080 if you get that drive for your pc then yes you can.
I would suggest the LG drive it supports hd dvd which they can be picked up for bargain prices now and has better read speeds.

Hi Folks.
Thanks for the advice so far fellas.
Is PowerDVD any good? Heard a few mixed reports about several issues with the software when playing Blu-Ray discs. Also is the software that comes bundled with the drive a full version not one of these to get all access pay to upgrade to the full edition.

PowerDVD :(
I would recommend that you download the CCCP Codec pack and either use MPC (Media Player Classic) which comes with CCCP or you can use, wait for it, Windows Media Player, once the CCCP codec pack is installed you will never need to search for another codec and WMP is quick and easy to use.

Hi Chaps.
PowerDVD is the way then. Why would i need the codecs pack? I'm only looking to play Blu-Ray Discs and thats about it really.

If you install that codec you can run blu-ray discs but powerdvd is better option but it is buggy

Hi Bud.
What do you recommend as the ultimate in Blu-Ray playback software?
I also forgot to mention do i need to install anything like ATI Avivo as im running the newest set of Catalyst drivers at the moment, just wondered do i need anything other than Catalyst drivers from ATI.
