Had my Nforcer 4200 for a nearly a week, had to deal with visiting in-laws and helping the missus with various weekend time robbing tasks but finally got down to actually "playing" with my new baby lasts night.
Thus far great stuff though it did crash a couple of times ...power ????
I want to put in an old IDE hard drive with a load of files on it that was my second HDD on my old faithfull Novatech PC that passed away :( recently.
The HDD on the Nforcer is SATA and I did try simply wiring up the old 80Gig HDD to an IDE socket on the Mo' Board and power supply. Fired it up and the PC would not boot past checking SMI or DMI (I cant remember which and Im not at home now) although it did recognise the old HDD in Bios as an IDE slave, I tried changing the jumpers and making it a master disk but same result.
What do I have to do or what have I missed to get the system to boot with this disk in place ? i.e. from the SATA drive which has windows on it ?
Im running Windows XP Pro with SP2 which without the insurgent old disk runs just fine.
All help appreciated. Hopefully next weekend I can actually get some free time to actually crank the new baby up and get my joystick out ;)
cheers
