You will need a new modem router and network card for each device. The XBOX already has one. Think about if you are going to need wireless on the router or how you are going to run the cables if wiring the network.
The best solution would be to get an all-in-one solution, ie:
ADSL Modem
4 port switch
Wireless router
All built into one, so you can have the wired if necessary, you've got wireless and the modem too

looks good but it works out a little expensive because you need to buy a separate adaptor as well unlike the other one

i was originally looking for a wirless router/adsl modem switch as i thought it would have been easier but now i've seen some cheap wired versions and so was wondering if it would be better just going for an access point?

access points aside, if i do get a wirless router/adsl modem/ switch i think i will get this one http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/118010 thoughts please
Thats the one i linked above - i reckon its the best sub £100 out there - more options on its config pages than you can shake a stick at too.

Dont set up your xbox live connection with a wireless connection lol!
I've had XBOX LIVE for a few years now, and the amount of storys ive heard from other users about their wireless connections.
Basically, it drops the connection by a good 40%, you cant really 'host' large servers, you will find your connection will drop a lot and cause you to 'lag'.
Just a word of advice

Why not? I connect my XBOX upstairs to the internet and the rest of my network through an Netgear WGE111 with no problems. In fact I was streaming a DVD last night.
If you connect at 40% then you are still getting around 24Mbps - even 10% is 5Mbps - which is much faster that the average 1/2Mbps ADSL anyway. If your hardware is dropping it's signal then upgrade the firmware or exchange - the problem would be obvious very quickly.
Remember that when things work flawlessly people never mention it online, when it doesn't work people complain.

most networking errors are pinkware based. wireless is a perfectly fine solution if setup properly, a decent setup is as good as an all singing all dancing flourescent pink cat6 cable these days, minus the potential gigabit speeds.
whether wireless is the solution for your house depends totally on how well you can position the access point, and whether the walls in your house allow signals to pass through, just hope nobody chickenwired-in your insulation.
