OK, My Q421 has had the subtitle issue since day 1. I reported it the following day, and was told a fix was imminent. Have spoken to Repairtech, who promised a cable, but the last time they bothered responding to me was a month ago.
Now, the TV won't work with Sky HD.

As you can imagine, i'm slightly upset.

I hope someone can help me. I've just lost faith with Repairtech, and am now hoping that Novatech can save the day.

Hi,

I am a little lost here, the SKY HD issue has nothing to do with the subtitle fix and does not impact it in anyway. Both are fixable but the SKY HD needs a return to base fix.

So the quote "Now, the TV won't work with Sky HD" is unfounded since Repairtech only service the products not design them, besides the Q421 would never have worked with SKY HD. SKY released there system with a different HDCP encoding and a simple update to the products firmware will correct this.

Please clarify how you feel this is RepairTech that has let you down.

If you want the subtitle & Sky HD fixing contact the Hyundai support line 0871 8553171.

Okay, bad wording.

They are two seperate problems. I was explaining about the subtitle issue, and having, at the time, just found out about the Sky-HD issue, was upset about that, so added that fact on to the end of the post.

I feel let down by the warranty repair company, as these issues have been there since day one, with one of them known about straight away, why do I have to send away a £1000+ TV for a repair that will take at least a week? An advance replacement or loan TV during this time would have been a nice gesture.

Alternatively, is the chip that needs to be replaced on the Q321 the same as on the Q421, and therefore able to be done at Novatech, who have the capability to replace said chip on the smaller models.

I understand your upset totally, but the problem is that the warranty company are not the policy makers they only repair. Your thought path regarding the chip being the same as the Q321 is correct but the content of the chip is different(different firmware). I do not know if Novatech have this version or not, but RepairTech do have all the software versions.

In short :-

The subtitle issue can be rectified with IDTV firmware v3.12 (Can be done by the user but a special cable is needed, not to many of these floating around.

The SKY HD issue needs to be updated back at base (or NovaTech if they have) since there is no user interface possible to this device currently.

Each process takes no more than 20 mins total.

If you decide to return to repairtech then we will help as much as we can, unfortunately we do not carry loan stock so you would be without a unit for a short period of time.

Im sure we can sort this out which ever way you decide to go.
