I currently have a novatech laptop which is about 1 year old. Up to now the dvd drive has been working fine, but the other day my laptop took 10 mins to start up. Once it was up and running there was no dvd drive icon in my computer and i could not find the drive in the device manager list, but there was power to the drive as it was able to open and spin up a disk.

I have tried removing the drive and the computer started up in the usual amount of time, but when reinstalled plays up again.

I did not install any programs or drivers previous to the drive not working.

I am no expert with computers so any help would be greatly appretiated.
Mnay Thanks

are you using Norton antivirus?

theres some weird issues with it that can make you CD drives not show up, I am not sure how you fix this though.

The model number is NNB-328.

Also i do have norton anti-virus installed and running. But this has never caused any problems in the past and i did not run auto update before the problem occured.
