The Xilence fans are great - got one of their 120mm ones and can't hear it at all :)

They don't move a lot of air though in my opinion. Almost any fan is quiet if you slow it down so that it doesn't move much air. With these they are low air movers without being slowed down.

I know the text is lifted from the manufacturers sites & Nova are not to blame, but how can the Arctic Cooling Freezer Extreme be unmatched (160Watts) when their own one above it does 200Watts and is £10 cheaper ? Does it cool a 160Watt CPU to a lower temperature than the one above & if so why is it not rated for 200Watts ?

Good point, 146Kilos. Got me thinking...

The AC Extreme was a disappointment over the regular AC7 as J2B will testify. Heatpipes are non-linear in performance and improve over a higher temperature gradient. You also can't be sure what exact coolant was used in each model. But with different fans, cooler, heatpipes and maybe even fan speeds and noise considerations, it's a very complex business. The Extreme looks more designed for low noise to me.
