Ok, stumped up the cash for a new monitor today (missus claimed ours was doing funny things. Never saw it myself, but hey, any exscuse to spend on a new toy).

So far looks good, bar the fact that as yet im still using my crt, will install later.

My only niggle is the product description.

Dan, Coop, guys, for fraks sake will you get the folks who put the info on the website to me more accurate when you advertise something.

I say this because too often items lack basic detail or its inaccurate (lil while back there was an AGP 7600GS, that its description titled claimed was SLI capable!!!!!!!!!!. in fact its still there http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/spec ... ?BFG-76GS5 (http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?BFG-76GS5))

this tft is advertised as here
http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/spec ... nov19l&P=1 (http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?tft-nov19l&P=1) its a Hanns.G HU196DP

heres the Hanns.g spec.
http://www.hannsg.com/EU/EN/Images/Prod ... d_v3.0.pdf (http://www.hannsg.com/EU/EN/Images/Products/HU196DP/HU196DP_specs_simplified_v3.0.pdf)

Granted they are quoting it as *typ* typical values, but even so, if they are accurate, it shows the Novatech site as innacurate and almost amature.

Come on guys, shape up a bit, and get yourselves outta 4th spot behind apple, dell and sony, and get it up above sony at least (yea, i saw the chart behind the counter and in the new catalogue)

Anyway, on the whole, £130 even for a 19" possibly 8ms, if it is 5ms then all the better, TFT monitor is not to be grumbled at.

Replying to myself just so it gives the feel of some time actually having passed on this.

Ok, monitor installed, screeen set at 1280x1024, lovely jubbly.

no more having bits of paper and boolets stashed beside my screen

blimey , i never realised Cristina Scabbia looked that goosd beyond 1024x768

nice monitor, beyond my earlier issues, no complaints.

Ok

Liar Liar Pants on fire

Everything is fine, except BF2 refuses to run.

I get an initial BF2 splash, then screen goes dark, then after 2-3 seconds, i drop back to windows.

Spec as below, + 1 brand new Hanns.G 19" monitor.

Have you got BF2 set to a resolution/frequecy beyond what the TFT can cope with? If so, plug your CRT back in, drop the resolution, and then try the TFT again.

Nah

I've been to eagames forum for BF2, and theres a handy guide for crash to desktop from start issue's.

I can now get the game to the account selection screne, i get passed that, get 20 secs of spinny red 2 icon, as it tries to connect to accounts server, before it crashes back to desktop.

Although i have no other problems with the monitor, beyond BF2, its destined for a return and get a smaller 17", as my other stuff does not play well at 1280x1024 and when you reset the screen size to 1024x768, it just makes the pixels that much larger and grainier because unlike with a CRT, a TFT gives you the image at the size you want, but keeps it spread over the whole of the screen making it fuzzy/grainy.

Shame really, because i really liekd the idea of gaming at the higher screen size.
