I have a Winfast K8S755A motherboard, bought from Novatech, and out of the blue the USB ports have stopped accepting USB 2.0. They work fine for USB 1.1 but with all USB 2.0 devices, it states "USB not recognized". I have tried removing all the devices from XP and let it find them again but just the same. Can any one help please.

could be something in BIOS

set your bios to "load best performance settings"

not sure if this happened to you, but this happens when windows xp uses windows98 usb drivers - they replace xp's own files. It is fixable, did it once, was a nightmare though and afterwards decided never to install random stuff of vendors mobo cd's again!

but you may not have this problem anyway, maybe something completely different - what were the surrounding events to loosing usb support?

I found that the BIOS was causing the problem. Loaded the basic default BIOS setting and this then Windows found the USB 2.0. Reloaded the optimized settings and all seems ok. Do you think a BIOS flash could be in order.

Thanks for the tips.

If it is the bios that is doing it then probably yes, it is dangerous to flash the bios, so do your homework before doing so.
Some people even get the manufacturer to send them a new bios chip
