Default Making a recovery disc and getting help.

HI, I am, new to all this- so a novice. I have a new Novatech computer. I need to make a recovery disc. Indeed the computer is programmed to suggest I do.
But how? I have bought 4.75gb dvd+r to make disc and when I try to do it it says there is not enough room.
There is no option to split 'stuff' into 2 or more discs to make it fit, so how do I do it?
Computer is running the' stuff' it comes with.
    Suggestions welcome.
I am also having difficulty with the TV card I have installed as I cannot make the computer scan for TV channels and find any. I have now attached a cable from external aerial ans reinstalled software. I bought a DVBT210SE Tv Card.
    More suggestions welcome
    Cheers,

OK Thanks. Totally misled by the computer shop when I went in and told them what I wanted it for and I asked for the biggest capacity.

There is a difference between a "recovery disk" and a backup. Backup's are huge and are best done on an external hard drive rather than optical media (DVD)

Something like this LINK or this LINK

A recovery disk is a single "bootable" CD that can be made within Windows 7 for recovery and everyone with Win7 should do but often don't get around to. Here is a LINK to my forum where I have written a full "Howto" make a Win7 recovery disk.

    Hi Wiggy

Pedragonuk and Asce are quite correct in what they say as to the type of disc needed and what such a recovery disc does.
