hello there i am currently trying to update my motherboard from f4 to the latest version, i have been in contact with tech support who gave me a few steps then advised me to go back to gigabyte support for help tried the info that got given . didnt work and got told to come back to tech support.
my issue is that when i try to update i have to correct file down loaded on to a 32gb usb in fat32 when i go into q-flash it goes up to 73% the i get a invalid bios image so it is back to square 1 please help and advise
So i have only ever seen this particular failure on Gigabyte boards happen in two ways.
Firstly it simply does not like the make and model of USB Flash drive. For whatever reason we have seen sometimes it simply just hates a USB Stick and wont accept it. Change to a completely different stick and it works. Also do not use sticks larger than 32GB, the smaller the better really as it does help with compatability. Like all these things Q FLash is software and BIOS updates improve support of Q Flash itself to support newer model sticks. If you can get it to update that is.
Secondly the only other time we have experienced this is when going from a really old BIOS to the very latest in one step. In some situations we have had to do some stepping stone updates. For example having to go one or two BIOS versions in between the current and latest. So work up to the latest version. This is most likely to do with other changes happening in the BIOS that need to take place before the latest can be applied and current version does not have that. So needs to go to a version inbetween first.
Usually either of the above has been the solution for us when dealing with Gigabyte boards in our facility. The only other thing you could try if above fails is to load the default settings on the BIOS save and exit and then try again, this makes sure that BIOS is fully at default settings and nothing could be off preventing it from loading up.
