Missing hard drive

Iv’e just received my new custom built N1636 laptop with two hard drives fitted. I’ve installed W7 professional but it can only see one hard drive. According to the BIOS menu two are there. Any ideas how I get W7 professional to see both drives?

Hey Peter,

Sorry to hear that you’re having trouble getting that second Drive working. It’s okay though, it’s just a case of having to initialize it. You can do this by opening up Disk Management. On Windows 7 the best way is to hit the Windows Key + R, and in the run box type “diskmgmt.msc” (without the quotes).

You’ll be able to see the Drive here, if it doesn’t automatically mention initializing it. You’ll want to right click it and get it initialized, and then on the Unallocated space remember to create a new Volume so you can store files!

Hope that helps,

Thanks JASL

Someone kindly talked me through it over the phone so all is well with the 2nd drive now.
