Seagate 3 TB and Windows 10 64 bit Pro

I purchased a Seagate Barracuda 3 TB from Novatech but Windows on sees 2.2 TB, I understand the dive needs be GPT format.
How do I create a GPT format?
Walter

Hi Walter,

What version of windows are you running?

Hi Walter,

If you are running Win 7 or above. You need to go into disk management and initialise the drive to GPT and then format as simple volume.

Hi Walter,

I forgot to mention, if you have any previous data on it then you need to back that up first.

Regards John

I am running Windows 10 64 bit Pro, there is no option in Win 10 disk manager to set for GPT format only NTFS.

Hi Walter,

You need to initialise first please see link https://www.windowscentral.com/how-format-new-hard-drive-windows-10. and scroll down to partition section.

Just a quick note. GPT is just the partition table. The disk will still be formatted as NTFS, but on top of a GPT partition layout instead of MBR.

Thanks for you assistance. I did put the question to the Novatech Tech as I purchased it from them but no response.

Thanks for you assistance.

Walter
