I have an MSI PRO Z790-P WIFI motherboard. Looked into updating the BIOS but discovered the differences between “INF” and “IMS” BIOS drivers so stopped. Current BIOS is E7E06INF.A72, wondering if there is an update available? Not done one since I purchased the machine in 2023. Order number was 6356927 if that’s useful.

The INF or IMS is to do with CPU Model type for Board and OEM Logo. the I shows the BIOS is for Intel CPU mainboard. the NF is for one of our Custom Logos. So your system most likely on boot has a Novatech or Reign logo. MS is MSI. So BIOS with IMS means its got the MSI Standard BIOS boot logo. So you can use IMS it will just change logo to MSI Logo. I can request latest BIOS with our Logo if you prefer to keep our boot logo.

You can download BIOS file from link below. If you are using bitlocker remember to suspend it prior to bios update or you will need your bitlocker recovery keys.
Zip File contains two files depending on which logo your system has. Both are the same version just different logo.
E7E06INN.AI0 - This is the Novatech “N” Logo
E7E06INR.AIA - This is the Reign by Novatech Logo
So use the file that matches the current POST logo you have, copy it to a USB Flash Drive and then you can use the inbuilt flash tool in MSI bios to load the update.

Just a follow-up to this. I have now updated the BIOS and it seems to have made a significant improvement to my machine 
.
More so with gaming. I believe I was suffering with the Intel problem of crashing on loading (specifically with shader loading). With this new BIOS update, that’s now gone and resolved an incredibly frustrating problem! I can now freely play a bunch of games I previously couldn’t because they kept crashing.
